Wander the Resort: What's the draw

Have you ever seen a really cool place on Instagram, but when you get there it's just wallpaper glued to styrofoam? Well, Wander the Resort is the exact opposite of that — it's even better and more beautiful in real life. Thoughtful design, solid structure and stunning, handmade accents make each exquisite cabin an intimate, cozy escape. You can feel the cortisol levels dropping the second you arrive on the dazzling, well-groomed property and sink into a beach cushion. The only stress here is picking which room to sleep in — spoiler alert: there's no bad choice.

Part resort, part retreat, this lakeside (or poolside, depending on your cabin) haven in the heart of Prince Edward Country blends the best of modern Nordic architecture with the warm nostalgia of the rustic Ontario cottage experience: indoor and outdoor fireplaces, fuzzy throw blankets, lawn games, calming colours reminiscent of the Sandbanks' rolling white sand dunes, sunlight pouring in through floor-to-ceiling windows — it's no wonder stays are sold out through 2021.

Wander the Resort: What to eat

Inside your cabin, you'll find a European-style kitchen furnished with contemporary appliances, all the cookware you could ever need and smooth clay serveware from The Ye11ow Studio in nearby Picton. Each piece of hand-formed pottery is an individual work of art that makes your own handmade (opening a takeout box with your hands counts) meals look just as tempting.

Pre-order special packages or meal add-ons like breakfast boxes from local bakeshop Picnic PEC, pasta kits from Piccolina Mercato and charcuterie boxes from The Agrarian Market. There's nothing like spreading triple cream brie over a fresh-baked crostini on your private, outdoor deck after a long day of leisure. The waterfront village of Wellington is a short drive or bike ride away and has tons of county foodie favourites like The Drake Devonshire and La Condesa.

Wander the Resort: What else

What's a cabin without a good fire? Each individual wooden deck is decked out with a gas fireplace, barbecue, custom furniture and outdoor shower for a kind of homey outdoor living room — s'more roasting sticks inside the kitchen (of course). Start your day with a morning yoga class on the beach. Then, rent on-site bicycles and peddle around P.E.C. for your own winery tour, or spend the whole afternoon lounging by Wander's newly opened pool and hot tub. In the winter months, venture away from your cabin's heated floors for ice fishing or skating on the frozen West Lake.
