Immerse yourself in downtown Toronto at the new TOOR Hotel

A collaboration between JdV by Hyatt and Manga Hotel Group, TOOR Hotel feels like a boutique hotel in all the right places.

TOOR Hotel: What's the deal?

After years of COVID-delayed construction, TOOR Hotel is finally open. Towering above Shuter and Jarvis, the brand-new building is a collaboration between the effortlessly cool JdV by Hyatt brand and Manga Hotel Group.

Inside, I’m seduced by the velvety green and wood accents that softly kiss the minimal lobby, while the gold chandelier is dangling art. TOOR has the grace of a boutique hotel in all the right places, without ever neglecting the finely tuned comforts of a global chain. Spot affectionate Toronto Easter eggs hidden by interior design agency Mackaywong, like the moss streetscape behind the front desk or the pastel floral wallpaper, both nods to the Garden District.

TOOR Hotel: The rooms

DesignAgency masterminded the 232 guest rooms and suites, which range from 215 to 581 square feet. I’m obsessed with the floor-to-ceiling windows in my airy king room on the 13th floor, which offers me a prime view of Toronto’s skyline.

Bathrooms are stocked with Zenology sycamore fig toiletries; additional products, like sleep gummies, rejuvenating eye gels and an electrolyte mix are available to purchase in the lobby market. Peckish for a p.m. snack before sinking into bed? Nosh or sip on local treats from your minibar, like Sapsucker or Soul chocolate.

TOOR Hotel: What else?

If you want to immerse yourself in Toronto’s downtown, the 33-storey property is about a 10-minute walk from attractions like Sankofa Square, Ed Mirvish Theatre and Nathan Philips Square. One of the biggest draws is right on the TOOR property, though: Muse Bistro + Bar, a gorgeous two-floor, French-inspired eatery helmed by executive chef Adam Kurgan, stands toe-to-toe with Toronto’s most romantic restaurants.

They serve breakfast, brunch and dinner; plus, you can snag steep happy hour deals on oysters, cheese, tartare and more. Thirsty for a nightcap? Your martini will be made tableside, so you can customize your spirit, garnish and style.
