Hunter Women's City Explorer Short Neoprene Boots: what's the deal?

I've never had nice weather-resistant boots. They've always leaned more on the heavy-duty, utilitarian, ready-for-the-apocalypse side. They did their job, but every time I put them on, I felt like an embarrassed kid who has to wear snow pants under their Halloween costume. So when I saw the not-embarrassing, sleek Hunter City Explorer Neoprene Boots, I had to have them.

I need transitional boots for those chilly fall days that can keep my feet dry and warm, but not too warm. I'm not ready for a full-on winter boot, and these pull-on-style wellies with a waterproof lower half are a breeze for dog walks, fall hikes and Starbucks runs. Plus, they look really good.

Hunter Women's City Explorer Short Neoprene Boots: why I love them

This shorter-style boot can be worn with jeans or leggings, so you don't have to compromise fashion for function (yes, yoga pants are fashion). The best part? The shoe's upper part is flexible, insulating neoprene (not waterproof), which makes folding them into a carry-on suitcase non-life-threatening.

I love the sturdiness of the chunky natural rubber lug sole, and the exaggerated heel makes me feel fancy. I have yet to acquire the patience or tact for laces, so I dig that I can slip these on before I sprint for the streetcar while the multi-directional tread gives me the grip and balance I naturally lack.

Hunter Women's City Explorer Short Neoprene Boots: Should you buy them?

If you want boots that are completely waterproof, these aren't for you. But if you live in — or are travelling to — a place where the weather is subject to change multiple times a day, I would *add to cart* immediately.

You can feel good about wearing these handcrafted Hunters because they're certified vegan — and both the lining and insole are made from recycled polyester. The fit says 'true to size,' but I find Hunter boots tend to fit big. I'm usually a size six and got their smallest size five instead. They were a little snug at first but have stretched out a bit, and I feel comfortable wearing thicker socks.

The City Explorer Short Boots are ideal for both outdoor adventures and big-city strolling — and can take you wherever you want to go.
