We’ve just returned from a trip to Cefalu, Sicily to celebrate the opening of the new Club Med Cefalu and we couldn’t resist sharing a sneak peek of our experience. A classic medieval town bookended by rugged mountains and sandy Mediterranean coastline, Cefalu looks like it’s been pulled straight out of a fairy tale.

The golden beach bordering the town is one of Sicily’s loveliest, attracting sun seekers from across Europe in the summer. Inland, you can spend countless leisurely hours exploring Cefalu’s maze of cobbled streets, quaint squares and historic architecture. The town bursts with old-school Italian charm – think vendors pushing fruit carts through the streets, laundry drying on sunny balconies and fishermen sitting on small boats repairing their nets.

Don’t miss checking out Cefalu’s twin-towered Romanesque cathedral, which is backed by La Rocca, a 278-metre crag that overlooks the town; and the seafront promenade, known as lungomare, a well-loved route for evening walks.
