Unless you’ve been social isolating under a rock for the past couple of months, you’ve probably heard of COVID-19.
Unfortunately this isn’t a Michael Bay movie, this is real life and the situation is serious. Canada is doing its best to flatten the curve of the rising pandemic and airlines are following suit.
Canadian air carrier WestJet will be suspending all international flights for 30 days as of March 22. During that time the airline will work with the Canadian Government to carry out rescue flights to bring Canadians back home.
This decision was made after Prime Minister Trudeau addressed the nation and advised Canadians abroad to return to the true north. For Canadians who plan on returning home after March 22 they should visit the Government's website to register for repatriation.
Amidst all the headlines and hysteria, panic tends to spread faster than anything and sometimes we all need to take a step back and – just like the airlines – stay grounded.
